Ottawa Gets: Dion Phaneuf Matt Frattin Casey Bailey Ryan Rupert Cody Donaghey Toronto Gets: Jared Cowen Colin Greening Milan Michalek Tobias Lindberg 2017 2nd Trash for trash. While dumping Clarkson was the bigger magic I find this trade to be more impressive construction of faceless filler. |

I think I'd rather have Cowen and Greening than Phaneuf, who is declining hard (or it just seems that way from years of toiling in Toronto) and is probably one of the stupidest players in the entire league. |

Pretty amazing the Leafs got rid of Phaneuf without holding any salary. See where NHL2016 rejected the trade? lol Said it didn't want Greenings salary. |

What I read is that Ottawa gets the better end of this short term, but the contracts going to Toronto expire earlier which will put them ahead in the long term. |
