Shots for Washington were 44 on goal, 19 missed, 19 blocked: four Flyers defensemen with three blocks apiece. Looks to me like the Caps were up against more than one goalie.

Genuinely shocked by the Kings going down this quietly. I guess it's no different from what we're seeing at home; sometimes teams that are Built For The Playoffs and Just Flip The Switch are not and do not. But unlike the Hawks where you can point to the blue line falling off a cliff or the attrition of veteran players, I don't see the same clear structural failings in the Kings. They just lost. Losing Voynov and Williams couldn't have been that big, right?

I'll take Pittsburgh over Washington because as much as I like Ovechkin, I never want to see fuckin' Trotz, T.J. Oshie, or OHHH OHHH MATTY NISKANEN OHHH OHHH win anything. A Penguins-Islanders Eastern final would be delightful, two teams that have hated each other forever. Probably gonna get the NASCAR Division reunion between the Caps and Lightning, though.

Haha, oh brother, I noticed Isles fans all year moaning about diminished production from Tavares and fans of other teams (people especially seem to relish picking on the Islanders) crowing that he wasn't a true franchise player after all. Just looked it up: 33 goals and 70 points on the season. I'd take 120% of the production at 57% of the price, no questions asked.
