"Blues coach Ken Hitchcock pulled his head out of his ass and announced that Brian Elliott will start for the St Louis Blues in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals."

Blues have had made it this far on a combination of Elliott being outstanding in enough games and having enough dumb/ref luck (Hawks without Keith for a game, Stars getting whistled for 2 penalties in first 10 mins of a playoff OT game) along with just enough offense that they might pull this out yet.

Hope not.

damn, Pittsburgh's video review guy has to make one of the "3 stars of the game" should the Penguins go on to win this game.

just when i was thinking, "huh, cool, no penalties, they're letting them play tonight" they get Malkin with a retaliation slash after Callahan goaded him into it.

didn't matter much, Pittsburgh had more shots / better scoring chances on Lightning's PP than the the Lightning

Kessel scores on a five-on-three late in the first because Hedman DOGPOGed. I expect non-Pens fans to bitch about the Pens-biased refs even on the most cut-and-dried foul in the game.

Well they shouldn't bitch when the pens had three of those in a row in that one game. Tampa lucky to be down only 1.

Tampa is terribly unlucky to have had a goal called back, but look at the difference in shots. Yeesh.

I'm listening to the Pittsburgh radio feed tonight. Mike Lange is a treat. For the unfamiliar, imagine Pat Foley if he spent his formative years living in a boxcar. One of the few greats in a league full of mediocre word-talkin' guys.

Penguins have out-shot the Lightning every game in the series. Pittsburgh was around +50 in shots through the first 3 games. Probably about +80 in the series by now through the first period of this game. averaging 10+ more shots a game and still losing in the series.

every game seems to run the same--Tampa comes out skating fast and looking like they are going to take an early lead. Pens survive the initial Lightning rush, and usually take a lead but regardless after the initial Tampa rush Pens look to be in control of the game--then next thing you know the Lightning somehow score 2 or 3 unanswered and they pull another rabbit out of their ass.

Penguins net one for the Bolts, Kessel with the own-goal, 3-1 now [Boyle gets the goal for the Lightning]:

If the Pens net another for the Bolts,Bolts will be right back in this thing.

She's a Bruins fan who makes gifs of everything for people to share, as long as the gifs aren't Patrick Kane's goals. She's a real superstar of the internet hockey community.

dunno if this is ranked by relative importance, but she's ahead of Don Cherry in this top 100 graphic:

Boyle nets his 2nd goal. How often has a hat-trick included an own-goal? Could happen tonight.

Not tonight, Game 7 Thursday.

Bolts give up a break-away goal trying to push in the equalizer, 4-2 Pens under 2 to go.

What a relief. Here's hoping the Pens win at home.

Bishop try to go in goal for the Lightning on Thursday? might as well. Surprised he's stayed out this long. He played the FInals last year with a pulled groin--which seems like it'd effect all movement. vs having one sore leg, as he does this year.

Downside of giant goal-keeps: might not be there for ya at the end due to injury.

Elliot ruins any momentum the Blues had by letting up an 10-ply soft goal.

Taresucko with ZERO shots on goal in this game. He's now -5 in the series. Bad.
