I know France are the favorites, but almost every damn tournament we hear about how Italy is down and out and bam, there they are in the semis at least. I don't bet against Gigi!

That being said, Iceland should not be overlooked.

I think Albania's the surprise team, in the same group with ISIS too, I mean Iceland.

Netherlands didnt qualify so I have no horse in this race. I'm pulling for Sweden for no particular reasons.

Tremendous late goal for the French.

I'm sure half the crowd is still whistling at Giroud.

England just doesn't look right out there without the classic collared unis.

French have already convicted two English fans of rioting and sentenced to 2 and 3 months in prison. Justice system at work.

FIFA has warned the Russians that if fan violence happens in the stadium again they will be eliminated from the tournament.

I bet everyone is now really excited to go to the world cup in two years in Russia.

And yet Russia is somehow still a better choice than the World Cup host after it. Nice work FIFA.

Russia and Qatar hosting is cool in the sense that the World Cup and Futbol belongs to everybody, but that's about it. No way those two should be rewarded for anything.

They should be rewarded by the heights of corruption they are willing to reach

There is no football that belongs to Qatar. It's also so uncool they have to fuck up every important domestic league's schedule and have it in the winter so players aren't dying in 110 degree heat.

Wales-England tomorrow. Iceland got a point against Portugal! Ireland looked surprisingly decent against Sweden. They really shit the bed with the own goal.

Why does Wales have a team when they don't even have a country?

Wales and Scotland and Northern Ireland have teams as a thank you to England for inventing the game basically and there being few other nations to play against at the time. I think Gibraltar has a team now too.

Croatian fans throwing flares and explosives onto the field today. That is some good French gate security right there.

...so that way it's "special' when a theoretically-LOADED "UK" team shows up at the olympics?

(basically it'd just be england + bayol + ramsey and maybe + ashley williams? man england might actually have a legit chance if they had bale for euros/WCs =/

but yeah technically tho the U.K. is the "united kingdom" of britain, wales, and scotland so that's why the split.

this whole "extra time" concept seems to be ripe for corruption
