tournament starts later today: italy x turkey.

i do believe italy will win this match, heavy favorites in rome. over/under is 2.25. turkey decent attack/dreadful on defense, i'd play the over. maybe 3 goals in this match.

italy deserved winners - flattering score. good to see the turks lost at sea. good betting day, looking for more tomorrow:

wales x switzerland.

easy victory for kosovo west. switzerland are top heavy with refugees from the serbia war. some good players. why this match is in baku, azerbaijan, blame it on platini. bale can only do so much - i like switzerland easy. over/under is mysterious at 1.5 - i'll play switzerland and the over.

denmark x finland.

my first inclination was the upset with finland (+750/+800), but hear their best CF in pukki, is returning from injury. no bets here.

belgium x russia.

2 of belgium's best players in de bruyne and witzel are iffy with injury - i watched belgium draw with greece last week 1x1 - expected much more from many of the media's favorites to win the euro. thought russia was weak as world cup host 3 years ago - don't believe they got any better. over/under at 2.5.

going to play belgium (-118) and the over at 2.5.

Was just watching and saw Eriksen from Denmark go down. What a scary thing to watch. I thought he was dead. Hope he makes it.

Yeah I thought they should have cut to commercial or gone to studio or something. It was really surreal and his teammates surrounding him was classy but I felt horrible for them

I mean, with international soccer there’s usually one feed that the networks get so it’s probably wasn’t ESPN’s choice what was being shown on the field, but they could have cut to the studio if they wanted.

Yeah Jiri Fischer also just got vaccinated for Covid in 2005 when he collapsed on the Red Wings bench and needed CPR and to be zapped with the AED.

2005.

Fabrice Muamba collapsed during a match and was “dead” for over an hour. It’s weirdly common in soccer.

Did someone confirm it?

The 64-year-old was also quick to dismiss the notion that Eriksen had been struck by Covid-19, while adding that he and Inter were not at liberty to provide further details unless Denmark's medical team did so first.

“He did not have Covid and was not vaccinated either," Marotta added. "At this moment, Eriksen is under the guidance of the Danish medical staff.

"It is right that they release information, but I can say the Inter medical staff have been in contact with them from the start

the fact that eriksen was stabilized is a miracle. i thought he was gone. i know someone/some people were 'just' doing their jobs - their good work saved a 29 y/o's life. unbelievable.

as it turned out, i had a good day...went 3-1 and would have won 8x my bet if i had gone with finland, as i had thought about doing.

switzerland's attack was dull, did not deserve a result - despite being the better side. the offside ruling out switzerland's 2-1 lead was just that, offside. no complaints. belgium with a stroll in the park - despite missing a few key starters. russia, as predicted - was/is absolutely terrible. the tournament is so watered-down, that there may be 3-4 nations worse than russia.

next match day:

england x croatia.

always followed the 3 lions..and they usually never fail to disappoint at any tournament. a good side, more athletic than ever. croatia has it's own pedigree, but i'm afraid their defense isn't good enough to keep them amongst the elites. england is -$165, croatia is +$525 and over/under is 2.5. i'm leaning towards england and the over, but won't play anything from this match.

austria x north macedonia.

austria to hammer these confused gypsies. i hope it's 8x0. austria is -$140, over/under 2.5. playing austria and the over.

netherlands x ukraine.

my gut says holland (don't think much of them anyways) and the under. won't play anything here.

big play is austria. risk $700 to win $500 on an austria victory and another $300 on the over. 5-1 so far.

Austria vs North Macedonia on ESPN NOW!

NM just scored to tie it at 1-1.

You rarely see such an easy wide-open goal, as they got past the goalie.

colossal error by the austria 'keeper, gifting the gypsies a goal they didn't earn. that whole move started because an austrian footballer - under no pressure; couldn't take down a high ball in midfield. austria sleepwalking through this match - still believe they have enough to win.

excellent result for austria and for me - not overly impressed with austria. arnautovic - the poor man's ibrahimovic. good to see the gypsy caravan get derailed - these clowns still believe they are a great ancient people with their helmets.

7-1 this tournament, picked up $800 today. easy pickings.

want to play holland, i'll lay off until tomorrow.

scotland x czech republic.

odds are scotland +$170/czech rep. +$200. money coming in on scotland at home. perennial non-qualifiers with 2 home matches in group play.

i look for the scots to come out flying, frenzied play. i hate betting on a draw and i won't here.

$300 on scotland to win $510.

bad scotland play, i bought into the british media selling me scotland's 'renaissance'. all the famous former and current managers, all the t.v. and media people and their NT is still shite.

poland x slovakia.

poland slight favorites at -$140. curious. slovakia at +$420. hmmm. derby-like match-up, these 2 nations do not like each other. media will talk about lewandowski - not the same player at intl. level. still believe poland has enough.

i'll risk $700 of the bankroll to win $500 on a poland victory.

great goal, 50 yard lob...i remember schick on roma..was always injured.

scotland/eire/n.ireland have all gone down the crapper after the english first division became the premier league and the bosman ruling. the best footballers from the home nations used to get heavy minutes in england, now the english sides have rosters with 6-7 english (bench players and no scots/irish).

playing at home didn't help scotland at all. shite.

the bankroll took a hit yesterday.

portugal x hungary.

portugal at -$225 to win, over/under at 2.5.

going to stick with the favorite here, going to risk $900 to win $400 on portugal.

france x germany.

one of the greatest matches ever was the 1982 w.c. semi-final between these two rivals. i don't expect the same today and won't play this match.

portugal leaves it late..comes through for the bankroll.

turkey x wales.

would love to have enough confidence to bet on wales here. just not enough quality. over/under at 2.5. going to play $600 on the over.

italy x switzerland.

italy looked great in it's first match, switzerland was a disappointment. i'm playing this match as a let-down for italy against a jacked switzerland. switzerland win at +510. going to play $200 on switzerland to win $1,100. regret not playing huge dog finland in their first match against denmark.

gotta love the espn coverage. talking up the german darlings in turkey and matteo bonetti insulted that italy is not everyone's favorite to win the tournament. ma, che cosa, matteo?? siguramente, forza italia. forza azzuri.

Is there a more dislikeable squad in this than Italy?

most surprising thing about Wales' victory was Gareth Bale *missing* a PK. the match still hung in the balance at the time, and they still won 2-0.

That they were facing Turkey didn't hurt...it would be interesting to see them do that against a good squad.
