Don't think so either. I just find South American soccer far more compelling than elsewhere. Especially Brazil.

the copa america is going on - you can watch the final between argentina and brazil on saturday night then watch the english and italians on sunday.

the world cup, next year in the late fall/early winter - is where you can watch s. american teams punt euro teams. not sure how the qataris will react to female fans from brazil and holland. also not sure if fifa will have referees wear pink.

yeah, the train derailed. group stage/knock-out round is where one should clean up. later stages, give the money back.

i've gone against the italians and lost with belgium and spain, while england let me down against scotland and now denmark. even playing in wembley, the english will likely be small favorites. currently, william hill has england at -$125, while the italians are +$100. we'll see...still have a nice bankroll, might play $1k on the under.

Italy has clearly been the better side than England thus far.

italy had a much tougher qf and sf, while england had it easier against ukraine and denmark. only 1 goal against england the whole tournament and it wasn't from open play.

if they pull it off, kudos to southgate. recent england teams had lampard, gerrard and carrick as CMs in the same 11 for a generation and never won anything, while we may see rice, phillips and a mount in the CM win a euro.

could have something to do with most of those players (excluding guys like messi) not being the spoiled brats of world soccer. africa's cup of nations and the CAF tournaments are usually really good too.

the absolute worst is the gold cup; but i'll still watch.

i see a lot more of the theatrics in south american intls. - qualifiers and the copa america. a player writhing in pain, some teammates pushing the opposing perpetrator - others, surrounding the referee. certainly makes it more lively, but i don't believe that's going to attract an american audience. i watched the colombia x argentina 2-2 wc qualifier last month and the poor chilean referee had a major controversy every 21 seconds.

it's actually toned down a few levels from yesteryear..i believe 2 central american nations went to war over a football match. you don't see as many armed soldiers patrolling near the touch lines to deter pitch invasions - maybe a moat filled with alligators was too costly.

uefa has charged england and will likely fine the english fa for:

- england fans booing other national anthems

- someone in the stands pointed a laser at kasper schmeichel's face/eyes, just prior to schmeichel saving harry kane's penalty.

speaking of the penalty, the italian media giving england a hard time about it.

going to play the under for the 1st half, which is 0.5 goals. obviously, no goals can be scored or a loss. the odds are +125 for this play.

going to risk $1k of the bankroll to win $1,250. if i lose, it was a rocky euro, fairly good start - poor finish. if there's a penalty in the 6th minute, i'll enjoy the rest of the match.

kick-off in a few minutes, two of the best national anthems left.

trippier in for saka, that should help my 0-0 for the 1st half.

Better to lose a bet in first 5 than last 5.

Luke Shaw just entered immortality, especially if they win.

it was a $2k swing...ouch, but it's true what conns said, better to lose it early than at the end. bankroll finishes nearly +$1.5k.

great goal...on the half volley. can't think of too many other left fullbacks getting that much forward early and hitting that half-volley laser.

Headband guy actually took one to the nuts but writhed around like a wounded bass pretending his leg got stomped on. I like the game but this bullshit is annoying.

amazing.

i give credit to the italians. i didn't think they had enough to win tournament and they won the final in london. really poor stuff from southgate - early goal blinded him. decided to 'manage' and move the toggle switch to the defensive side. the pitch tilted towards the england goal and the english were never in any position to take the match. should have managed this like a club side with an early 1-0 lead at home, not try to out-tactical the masters of football tactics, the italians. the italians scored what canadians call a 'greasy goal' and never looked back nor were seriously threatened by a lame england, playing at home. that attacking lameness falls on southgate.

the italian 'b' final 1/3 attacking side was better than the english 'a' 1/3 attacking side. only a manager that comes out 2nd best can produce that.

When Rashford attempted the Patrick Kane slo-mo goal and miffed it I was just like "oh nooooooo, I know who's getting blamed for this one."
