I think Lipid is even considering a GTI for his next car. If that is the only thing to come of this thread, it was worth it. He deserves a nice ride.

How many skirts do you get with the purchase of said ride?

C'mon Hawg, not everyone can be EuroCool like our little buddy IMU here.

Not sure, but who needs a throw-in of any sort when you're already getting the vehicle with the best features to money ratio possible.

Don't like them, I don't care how much you would try to sell me on that golf cart.

Maybe you should avoid confusion by clearly stating that when you say best possible features to cost ratio that you're strictly referring to your personal feature requirements. It certainly is not the best "features to money" ratio car for most people.

The features you listed may not necessarily be what everyone else is looking for.

That is the point.

I would never buy a new car, and I don't have a dream car. I just don't get into cars, I look at them as necessary but usually a big pain in the ass.

Can you fit 3 kids, a stroller for two and groceries in it? What if you need to move to a new apartment... can you haul your shit with it? Can you fit a water heater in it if it needs to be replaced? What about decking materials? Where would you put the load of pea gravel when you need to redo the area under the deck for drainage?
Can you take 2 kids camping in it? Will it haul the trailer? The boat?
Again, you're looking at car needs from the perspective of a 25 year old single guy who rents. MOST people are not 25 year old single guys who rent. That's just a teensy demographic. I need a truck for my new business that can haul tons of tools, large pieces of hardware and pipe, conduit sticks that are pretty long not to mention sticks of black pipe, which is quite heavy. Your car does not meet the requirements of "features to money" for that application.
Most people that post here don't need the "features" you've listed or do not value them to the same extent that you do. Ergo, you should try to clarify that the "features to money" is really more of an opinion as I would, as would millions of Americans, fine little value in a touchscreen navi display, heated seats, sunroof, bluetooth... they have little to zero value to many many people.

I wouldn't want people to misunderstand that you are aware that you're simply stating your opinion and not actually making factual claims, that's all. Carry on.

I'm sorry you cannot comprehend words when attached in strings that are referred to by educated folks as "sentences."

My preference statement was regarding the difference between people who want the best car for their buck, or people who prefer a car that they can pretend makes them more 'manly', or whatever they think their SUV or 15 year old bucket is doing for them.

You keep using 'best car for their buck' but you really aren't comprehending the true meaning. Your calling it 'the best' is in fact your opinion. Your calling the features you've listed 'the best' is your opinion. Many of the features you've listed are feature you were looking for, but many people are not. Your arrogant tunnel vision blinds you to what many other people may prefer, or may need for their purposes.

This started as simple ball busting, but your sensitivity turned it into you showing your true colors.

I'm sorry you can't handle it.

Yeah. You can do that with any car if you're the only one in it. I had guitars, amps, a computer and a ton of other stuff when I drove to Montana for school. It was fine with just me. When I gave a buddy of mine a ride to Colorado on my way home for the summer, it was...not the most comfortable.

Hatchbacks might be great for you, maybe even perfect for you. For other people it would be the worst possible car that they could buy. Both of those statements are facts.

I stopped there. 20 Questions is a two person game.

Yes. It has seating for 5, and the cargo space would fit a stroller for two if it folds up. Depending on the amount of groceries, they can be thrown on top.

Yes, it can be used for hauling. It isn't quite as big as my Honda Fit was for that purpose, but it still has a fair amount of room. I'll check to see if I still have it, but when my old company moved office buildings, I used my Fit to haul a lot of stuff over. I took a photo when it was packed with stuff (two end tables, various computer stuff, a ton of boxes)...it is amazing how much shit you can throw into a hatchback.

Yeah. But I don't see many service vehicles that are these VW's. I don't see a lot of families driving in around them as well.
My only point is that the features you're listing as being the best value for the dollar is your opinion. I couldn't use your VW to haul a deer out of the woods but my escape makes that easy. I couldn't haul a load of black pipe or my tools in your VW but I could easily in the escape or a pickup I'm looking at. Your car might be a fun project car for a homeowner but most folks need a car they could throw a bunch of shit into and haul, like the 20 or so 4x6s I had to buy to repair my deck. That wouldn't work in your VW. I understand that this has no value to you, but understand that your heated seats and navi hold little value to many of us.

Settle down there fella.

My days of "smoking" cars is long gone. I grew out of that.

To be fair, I bought the Mustang when I was 25? I thought it was fun at the time. These days I wish I'd have bought the F150 instead because I need it for work. The Mustang doesn't cut it as a work vehicle, doesn't cut it for a homeowner vehicle (ever try putting a water heater in a Mustang? ) and just plain isn't safe in winter.

My next vehicle won't be fast off the line, and I won't be smoking anyone, but it will be a tool for me to use that will ahve better functionality.

If it's good enough for Mitt Romney's dog, then it's good enough for your groceries.

Heated seats are also super great during Chicago winters. Like...seriously awesome.

So I should rent a menards pickup every day to do my work?
And I guess I just don't see the value in paying for seat warmers. I just don't need it. Never was that... needy? Is that the word I'm looking for?

Not everyday. My brother in law is a carpenter. So, he has a pickup. In the back of his pickup are 2-3 saws, nails, nail guns, hammers, screwdrivers, drills, saw horses, a heater, a microwave, a garbage can, broom, 3 ladders, and probably a bunch more tools that I can't really name. Plus he has racks on top for the ladders, or window trim that he may need.

He needs all of this because he doesn't know exactly what he will be doing from day to day, or even what jobsite he will be at. So a hatchback would literally be the WORST car he could get outside of maybe a Geo Metro. Heated seats mean jack and shit when you have to transport tools, and he doesn't have the time or the means to rent all that shit from Menards on a daily/weekly basis.

Once again, a hatchback is great to get you to and from work. Its awful for most other people.

Different days, different jobs. When DarkoCo goes online, I'll need a work truck each day instead of just days I do side work. This is why I was saying that your value to cost ratio (corrected name) is different from mine, and generally speaking, most peoples as you're in a demopgraphic that is less than 50% of the population.

Franks sums it up perfectly. Sure the hatchback is great for a single fella who rents and just drives to the office a few times a week. It wouldn't be practical for me. Shit just my PA alone requires something bigger than the hatch. I doubt my harbinger 15's would fit in that thing.

racecar demographic

So then you're quite well aware that it's not the best "features to cost" ratio for most car buyers?
I think we're finished here.

It's been swell.

Nope, if anything you've proven me right. Most people do not haul 2x4's in their daily vehicle. Most people use their vehicles for Point A to Point B. Since mine does Point A to Point B quicker than most, I win.

Ok. I will now end our chat. I hope the rest of your trolling goes well today.

Someone sans balls wouldn't have made this thread in the first place. I thrive on people wanting to knock me off a pedestal. If anything, you're buoying an already inflated feeling of self-worth.

I am CSFMB.

This is an interesting take on who you think you are. Fascinating. I'm assuming this is truth? You feel that you're on a pedestal above the rest of us? This is based on a car you bought?

I see that as part of a problem. Your pedestal is about 6 inches off the ground. I don't think you will hurt youself when you fall but I'm hoping your ego gets bruised, badly.

FYI I made an epic thread about my awesome vehicle too.
