why is that disappointing? He's not good at golf anymore. It's about as disappointing as realizing Michael Jordan won't be participating in the NBA playoffs this year.

Just thought it would be cool to see him down there during the practice round I am going to. More nostalgia than anything.

I'm going too. Other than do the gift shop first, any tips?

IF you are flying into Augusta, the airport is the size of a Tollway oasis. Expect few amenities and a crowd, probably more than they can handle.

GSP -- it was a lot cheaper -- although that airport is pretty small too -- then renting a car and staying in columbia. We'll probably log 1000 miles in 3 days

Didn't people say that about Nick Faldo when he was playing? Yet it seems as a TV analyst he has developed a bit of a personality.

I think it helps that he's usually three sheets to the wind on air.

I am not sure I have any tips worth following. Do you plan on getting there when the gates open? If so, then doing your shopping may not
be a bad idea, I believe they will hold your merch for you until you leave. One thing to note is that I believe they only allow you to use their
Masters chairs out there. If you don't have any and want to sit later you will probably need to buy some. One advantage to the chairs is that
you can go and set them up wherever you want to sit and leave them there while you walk around. No one will move them or sit in them. The
people that generally attend are very courteous. I know when I went 9 years ago we get there when the gates open and headed to #16 to
set up our chairs near the pond and then walk around. You can go back in the afternoon and sit and watch the groups come through and of
course try to skip balls onto the green across the pond. It is pretty fun to watch.

Definitely do all of your shopping right away. The store is right near the entrance and you can check your merchandise for pickup as you leave. Or you can FedEx the items home right from the course as they have all of the packing needs right there. The 'bag check' area fills up fast so unless you are not buying a lot or do not care about carrying your bags all day, do this first. The gates to the store and concessions open up an hour (maybe 90min?) earlier than the 'gates' to the course anyway.

Check their website, but I think you can bring a folding chair that does not have arms. DO NOT BRING YOUR PHONE WITH YOU. Leave it at the hotel or locked in your car. If you are there for a practice round, bring a camera, extra batteries, and an extra memory card. Last year my wife and I were there for the Monday practice round, and we walked the bulk of the course in the AM, then sat at the range, at #16, Amen Corner, #4, and on the grass along #1 at various points in the afternoon. Wear COMFORTABLE shoes. Golf shoes may not be your best option. The course is very hilly and you will likely be exhausted by the end of the day.

If the lines for the golf shop, concessions, bathrooms, etc seem long, they aren't. Trust me, they have the crowd moving down to a science. I think we were a bout 25-30 people deep for checkout from the golf store last year, and I don't think we waited more than about 10 minutes. The 'bag check' line to pick up our stuff at the end of the day was easily 100 people long, and I think that wait was only about 15 minutes.

Make sure you soak in every minute and see everything you want to (including the Par 3 course) because you never know when or if you will be able to get back onto the grounds.

This is all good advice, especially checking the website about the chairs. I haven't been in a long time. I do know that they tore down the old merchandise
building the week after last years event and built all new. They also built a huge new tunnel to funnel people in from the large parking lot from houses they bought and tore down. I am confident the merch tent will still be near the entrance but I know it will be different.

They had people in the bathroom directing you to empty stalls.

There were MANY people doing that in every resetroom I went in. My wife said in the women's room, they were wiping the seats down after every use.

Go to the Hooters parking lot and watch John Daly sitting in a trailer selling all things John Daly. For the love of God don't go anywhere near the trailer. Just stand at a safe distance and watch.

For those of you scoring at home, its now Shakes 7, Tiger 4.

4 back surgeries have brought one of the 2 greatest golfers of all time to his knees, yet my friends continue to give me grief when I want to play from the white tees.

Been saying since surgery #2 that he was done forever, people finally starting to come around to that. I remember someone on this site laughing when I said after surgery #2 that Tiger would not only never win again, he would never even contend.

Back surgeries not withstanding, play from the correct tees based on your handicap and how far you hit the ball. No shame in playing the middle tees.

The debate used to be when Tiger would catch Jack. Then it was if Tiger would catch Jack. Today it should be if will he ever finish 4 rounds in another major.

You said he would never finish top ten again, and then he finished in the top ten at the Wyndham. It may have been the very next week. Finishing in the top ten is contending.

The bar has been set extremely low if you are going to pat yourself on the back for saying that a guy who has had multiple back surgeries won't play at the level he once did.

Ten years ago, it looked like he was going to win 25 majors.

Gonna need Brick to confirm that, I'm pretty sure if I said that it was top 10 in a major.

The bar may be low, but I was the only person saying he was completely done 2 years ago.

Face it, I'm awesome or GTFO.

Rickie Fowler recently said Tiger was driving it 30 yards past him.

I sure hope he has another run in him, like Jack in '86. The guy could still play, but didn't intimidate everybody like he did in his prime. Another major for Tiger would be the biggest golf story of all time.
