Who would argue that a team that won the WS wouldn't give any other team a good series? I thought this was a bit, but you're apparently serious.
I don't think every World Series team in history would have a good chance of beating any other World Series champion. It's like you think all World Series winners are pretty much the same.

But, if what you say is true, then why are you arguing against White Sox fans thinking the 2005 White Sox would beat any other World Series team in history?

You honestly think there are matchups between World Series winners in which one team would have a very low chance of winning? Every World Series champion has good starting pitching and at least a competent offense. Because of that, any team would have a shot against any other team. The highest I'd go in terms of odds would be 65/35.

Yeah, and that was the Yankees/Pirates in '60.

I had to Google this because I'm not older than Christ, but it is a great example...

"The Yankees, winners of their 10th pennant in 12 years, outscored the Pirates 55–27 in this Series, outhit them 91–60, outbatted them .338 to .256, hit 10 home runs to Pittsburgh's four (three of which came in Game 7), got two complete-game shutouts from Whitey Ford—and lost. The Pirates' inconsistent pitching and Stengel's controversial decision not to start Ford in Games 1 and 4 resulted in the peculiar combination of close games and routs. Ford (Games 3 and 6) and Vern Law (Games 1 and 4) were both excellent, while Pirates relief pitcher Roy Face was a major factor in three games."

Congratulations to the Indians on making history. Now to argue about Mark Buehrle for ten more pages.

Name 5. And don't include some stiff like Sid Luckman or any other old fart who wore a leather helmet.

Down to their last strike and Limdor ties it with a double and win in the 10th for 22 in a row... Awesome

Crowd pop bigger than the World Series wins. May have surpassed Rajai Davis reaction

You can't tell me to name 5 but leave off one of the top 2.

Everybody is on crazy pills or something.

The damned winning streak record is 26 games. Period.

This "tie" baloney was a game that was rained-out for long enough that it was after dark before the rain let up. That game did not count.

To that end, they played a make-up game the next day for said non-counting game as well as the regularly scheduled one ... a "double-header", for the ho's at home ... the Giants won both games.

It's like saying the first Wrigley night game was August 8th, 1988. No it wasn't .... rained out. 8/9/88. Never forget.

It's like saying because there were MANY rain-outs during Ripken's career that he really didn't start x # of games in a row.

It's like saying if Cleveland had been rained out at some point during their run and the game wasn't official that their streak was thus over. Horse hockey!

So it is, too, with this nonsensical talk about Cleveland having any winning streak record. They don't.

It was a phenomenal sports feat, there's no question about that.

But it didn't set any record at all. There was no tie game. The 1916 Giants' record that year 86-66. I don't see a "-1" after the 66; do you? No, you don't.

#FakeNews

Incidentally, MLB's official statisticians - the Elias Sports Bureau - say the record is 26.

“A tie game was never an acceptable result of a baseball game. Tie games were always created artificially, usually because of rain or darkness, and were customarily replayed at the earliest possible date. That was the case in 1916, when it was made up the next day.

“So this is a totally made up, so-called controversy. I'm not even going to say it's a controversy. This is settled.’’

-- Steve Hirdt, Executive VP of the Elias Sports Bureau

Yeah. That was bugging me especially after I heard the Elias statement. Still, get the AL record and one helluva streak.

100 wins, probably gonna make it 101 tonight up 6-0 on the Sahx. Forget LeBron, this is where Cleveland appreciates greatness.
