Odd article in Tribune today. Saying they don't go together and Chicago steakhouses don't know how to make them anyway.

https://www.google.com/amp/www.chicagot ... y,amp.html

Funny I thought you had the martinis before the steak not while you were eating it.

A great steak should be accompanied by a Manhattan.

Isn't there supposed to be a bj in that whole combination somewhere? Would assume that was what wasn't being done right...

I've literally never heard of/witnessed people drinking martinis with steak.

Manhattan or martini can't go wrong. Follow up with a very sturdy red wine and you can't go wrong. Beer does not belong anywhere near a great steak.

Are you describing someone going out for a steak or pittmike posting here?

American rye is fine. Canadian is a bit sweet for me. Just give me a good pour, neat, with a side of ice water and a ride home.

Steak is best at a place that gives you free Mountain Dew refills.

Red Wine is my preference with a steak or pasta. Robert Mondavi has this cabernet that is aged in bourbon barrels....good good stuff.

I was always taught it was Martinis before dinner. Red Wine with dinner (if a steak). And Brandy after dinner.

Martinis with oysters, but certainly not with steak.
