Also, Bootleg 5, Rolling Thunder Revue was probably Dylan at his peak vocally.

Blood on the Tracks is a tremendous album and for anyone criticizing Dylan, have you listened to his folk songs from the early 60's? Talk about a musical catalog...

As for Petty, he is indeed still alive and the great CBS News had to issue a retraction:

Tom Petty was great, but he was not Bob Dylan and he was not Bruce Springsteen. He is one of those important bridge figures in the chronology of Rock. A lot of what Tom Petty represents is what Dave Grohl tries to be.
