His non challenge in Game 2 against the Indians is worse than anything Maddon has ever done.

I'm sure he has feelers out. He's like one of those girls who's never single because she always has the next guy lined up.

I watched Game 7 of the WS and the desire to murder Maddon still hasn't passed so it's hard for me to say that.

I don't think he'll manage again. How do you move on from manager of the New York Yankees without the next job being a step down? I'm sure he has a job waiting for him in the commissioner's office so he can move up from field managing but stay in New York.

Theo had to take the same step down leaving Boston.

Not really. Between market size and a better title, it was a lateral move at worst. But in baseball, there are the Yankees and then there's everybody else. Girardi has been in the Yankees organization since 2004 with the exception of 2006 when he managed the Marlins as a glorified apprenticeship for eventually managing the Yankees. It's hard to picture him slumming it with the Phillies or Nationals.

The Red Sox, with less success, were the big rivals of those same Yankees and just as nationally relevant coming off two World Series victories.

The Cubs were a team with a logo of a blue W that makes no sense given there isn't a W in the name of the team or city.

I mean, I know what you're talking about, but this is a bad-faith argument, even for you.

Well, I'm obviously joking about that dumb argument, but I think if we go back to the time right before Theo showed up that the Red Sox were much bigger than the Cubs.

Epstein had worn out his welcome in Boston right? Maybe more accurate statement was the owner Lugo was throwing art more weight and it wasn't sitting well with Theo. Ricketts pitched a proposal, Theo gave some BS statement about needing to change jobs every ten years and boom...Theo has many re autonomy to what the hell he wants.

Girardi family was big on family. I worked with his brother when he was a Cub. But Girardi family is also very big on work. He may have to get back into something or go crazy. TV may work, but it may not present a big enough challenge.

This thread is not coming.plete until stoneroses weighs in.

Put up or shut up time for the Yankees. When the Yankees pass yet again on Don Mattingy can they please stop crying about his awesomeness?

Aroldis Chapman would probably cry at any mention of Maddon coming to the Yankees.

I think Girardi goes to Washington. It may be a step-down in terms of baseball legacy but the $$ could justify it.

So the Yankees seemed like the most promising team in baseball and now they are going to burn down their leadership because they want to be "more analytical".

White Sox should send Cashman a fruit basket. That team is headed for a doom spiral 2018.

On second thought, I doubt Maddon would be able to throw pizza parties and sleepovers with the guh-LAWR-ious New York Yankees.

New York may actually be a yuppie hive of Maryland and Pennsylvania transplants but they won't reduce themselves to faggotry as willingly as Chicago has. The petting zoo shit won't go over well.

I know the Yankees > the Nationals, but the Nats have never won a postseason series. If Girardi took the Nats to a World Series-- something that hasn't happened in Washington since the 1930's-- that would be pretty good legacy for him.

They're probably a Scherzer injury from going this year. That's a great job to have. I would take pennies on the dollar to get it if I were an up and coming manager.
