There have been 240 since Sandy Hook. I doubt it will happen.

Citation needed.

This sounds like the "18 this year" factoid being thrown around. That number comes from a Bloomberg campaign and includes 10 non-fatal shootings and 3 suicides.

https://everytownresearch.org/school-shootings/

This is the very partisan Bloomber funded group we were discussing. Right off the bat I clicked on a dot on Mississippi and got this
Quote:
While sitting in his car in a campus parking lot, Blake Ballard, 22, unintentionally fired his handgun, hitting himself in the thigh. He was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Campus security announced that, as a concealed carry permit holder, he was entitled to carry a gun on campus and would not be charged.

Wow. We really need to go after the Blake's in the world. Take away the guns!

Do better Nas.

He was at a school, right? You can go through the list and narrow them down if you like. If it's 150 that you find legitimate that's still too many in 4 years. Let's not get distracted.

Also keep in mind they don't count things like this.

Clearly it is difficult to draw lines. The Everytown list did not include the recent and highly publicized shooting spree in Isla Vista, Calif. In that case, the shooter was a student at the University of California at Santa Barbara, and he targeted other students, including women living in a sorority house near the campus. Seven people died, but the shooting wasn’t technically on campus, so it didn’t make the list.

The thing about a lot of these "white supremacist" teenage shitheads is that they know they have no claim to supremacy. In fact, they seem to pretty much hate themselves and their lot in life. They recognize that they don't stand to benefit from white nationalism; they'd be among the first against the wall. They just want to wreck shit because they feel left behind and hopeless. They're lost little sadists.

Probably. I don't think they're sadists as much as they are angry, though. But they may be.

Of course that is silly and childish.* I don't think it should drive people into white nationalism, but I can understand how it would drive them away from liberalism.

Liberals and Democrats have a played a really, really, really bad hand these past 25 years.

*if it is accurate

What is this, a JLN post? "ACKSHUALLY, they weren't School Shootings, they were shootings that happened to take place at schools!" Shapiro is a fucking dweeb.

meh he uses facts for his arguments. He is correct in not terming them school shootings. Bloomberg's group likes to play fast and loose with the truth so he is merely shining some light on an example which is being parroted by the press without a second look.

Shapiro was decent when he worked for BuzzFeed. Since going on his own he's just an attention whore.

Not really true. If 2 high school kids get into an argument in school and a student opens fire on him across the street from a school that isn't counted. Neither is this shooting:
The Everytown list did not include the recent and highly publicized shooting spree in Isla Vista, Calif. In that case, the shooter was a student at the University of California at Santa Barbara, and he targeted other students, including women living in a sorority house near the campus. Seven people died, but the shooting wasn’t technically on campus, so it didn’t make the list.

How many of these aren't counted? So it goes both ways. In the end the numbers are fairly accurate or you can go through them yourself and determine what you consider to be a legitimate school shooting.

I think you're thinking of noted plagiarist "Buzzfeed" Benny Johnson.

I liked Shapiro's novel that was veiled gay porn. "The lieutenant was a big rugged bear of a man" and such.

The gun debate also always surfaces after school shootings even though way more people die every day from street shootings.

When kids are frequently being slaughtered in a place that most parents believe to be safe, WE need to try to find a solution.

How about banning all the violent films and ending the glorification of violence in film and on TV for starters? It was not always like this, where human life has been so degraded as to be worthless. And then you have the local news rolling the police report every night, so that the violence is virtually inescapable.

The federal government is just as much to blame for its militarism and endless wars. We need to bring "Make Peace, Not War" back, but peace doesn't sell.

Heck the media plasters the face of the killers all over the news so that you'll never forget their names.

If you're a fucking no good loser you can either kill yourself and be forgotten or pull this shit and become infamous thanks to the media. To say they glorify this would be an understatement

Why so mad at the media bro? You are the same sick fuck that was "happy someone shot up the NSA".

He allows that it is "children" dying inside of a given uterus, not a "clump of cells which may become a human".

But hey, it's not wishing a violent gun death on board posters, so maybe you won't get it so easily.

This would make more sense to include then some guy who kills himself in a school parking lot by himself at night.

Then you probably shouldn't have made the mistake of thinking this was pithy somehow and then posted it.

We're not at 20 pages yet. I asked that question at 10 pages and told them they would solve it at 20 pages.

Go team!

There have been some reasonable suggestions. But then we get reminded we need the best guns to RESIST against black helicopters and government commandos hiding around every corner.

Here is a suggestion I make every time this happens. Why are not our schools investing in these? Not that expensive or hard to train in the use of?
