Wilson has a decent breaking ball and good velo, but his fastball lacks movement. needs to throw a 2 seamer more for strikes. Pirates are a good hitting club, lets see how he does the next few appearances before we peddle him for a case of baseballs.

He walked 3 of the 8 batters he faced.

Cervelli hit a bomb off of him. Cervelli has 25 career HRs in almost 600 career games.

Wilson had a fluky early 2017 and the Cubs made a bad trade. It happens.

He is the definition of a sunk cost. It happens.

This guy gets it.
Wilson is bad. It happens...especially with bullpen arms.

We just need to view it as Avila being the center piece of the trade, and he did contribute positively to the 2017 Cubs. Not a bad trade. But this Wilson experiment needs to end soon. This control is far worse than any issues Marmol ever had. His walk rate is over 10BB/9 IP since joining the Cubs. It is WORSE this year than last.

Avila was a rental for an injured catcher, and Wilson was the potential closer of the future. Caritini was blocked anyway. It didn't work for the Cubs, and as stated, it happens.

Yep.

Bad trades happen. The Tigers traded a 30+ catcher who was going to walk and a lefty reliever who was riding a fluky streak for an above average prospect who was ready for a look at the MLB level.

I think Frank means that Candalario was blocked (Bryant) and this is true.

Theo and Co have made bad trades in the past and will make them in the future. The only way you avoid making bad trades is to avoid making trades at all. You've got to make trades in MLB if you want the opportunity to put together a contending team, and if you want the opportunity to take that contending team to a championship.

Candelario and Paredes was a fine trade for even a 2+ month rental of Avila. CJ has always been the closer of the future...

Yes I meant Candelario, my bad.

If the Cubs really thought Edwards was the closer of the future, they wouldn't have traded for Wilson and wouldn't have signed Morrow as their closer.

by "always" you mean cubbie fans saying that at the start of every year until he proves once again that he is not ready for the job

I think he has proven he is ready for the job. I think most Cubs fans agree.

I don’t understand why the front office has admitted time and time again they don’t have a leadoff hitter. Go out and get one.

I think we're going to sign Darvish, if he'll come here (Cubs were on his no trade list...probably saw the Horry Cow t-shirts)

That’d be a bad signing . Hope they don’t .

I understand the trepidation about his playoff performances, but they have to MAKE the playoffs. He'd probably be the best starter on the team.

Rpb.. I didn't have time go looking til now.. Lets see what I find.

I don't blame Jake, I keep hearing Darvish was the premier guy..he's not, Jake has a better resume, he didn't wet the bed in the post season, ge didn't have surgery, he's got about 6 seasons worth of innings less on his body. Jake was the best pitcher in mlb for 18 months..Darvish has never done that or won a CY.

Bump. Edwards is amazing. No reason you wouldn't want to make a good bullpen deeper and better though.

Stack of Dimes Edwards should concentrate on building up some muscle and stamina rather than dance moves.
