Back at WGN and filling in this week for Steve Cochran. He must be very well liked in the industry because he always seems to have a job someplace. |

He's so well liked that you would almost think he's a tribesman. |

He's like Harry Teinowitz. I understand the comparison but I honestly can't imagine Harry being well liked. I can see him kissing MASSIVE amounts of ass and weaseling his way in that way, but I can't see people legitimately liking him. He's the radio equivalent of a recurring fungal infection. |

Pete had Mayor Rahm on this morning in studio for a pretty good interview. They discussed a variety of subjects about the city. Interesting stuff. Mayor quips that this is the first time he has been on WGN Radio and had a serious conversation. Shots fired at Steve Cochran who always goofs around and interrupts while interviewing hizzoner? Anyway, Pete surprised Emanuel with the mayor's old buddy and Pete's cousin, Ray LaHood, former Representative from Peoria on the phone. It was obvious that LaHood & Rahm are pretty good pals and enjoyed talking about the old days. Nice job, Pete! Keep up the good work. It has been enjoyable to listen while Pete has been filling in on Chicago's Very Own. |

Bump. Noticed that Justin Kauffmann has been pinch hitting for Cochran on WGN the past few times in his absence. Haven't heard Pete McMurray on in a while. I like his fill in spots. Yes, I'm old - I listen to WGN more these days. Especially since they now carry the Sox. |

Pete pinch hit for John Williams today. Da Mare was on at 2 with Pete. It seems like even Rahm likes him. |

If Rahm Emanuel likes you, you're not doing your job. |

Had some Chicago Honey Bears on earlier who wrote a book about the glory days cheering on the Beloved sidelines. "Dem broads were Honeylicious!" http://www.chicagonow.com/chicagonow-st ... rs/#image/ Did they get Cheryl Burton? Book is called; "Missing From the Sidelines"... PREFACE This book goes behind the scenes of the once popular Chicago Bears’ professional cheerleaders, the Honey Bears, and where they are now. Through in-depth interviews conducted by two former Honey Bears, you will learn how a former Catholic nun became the team's cheerleading coach. Mike Ditka shares his feelings for the first time about the Honey Bears and readers will find out why he's saying, "You got more out of me than anyone in the past 40 years.” This book reveals the lives of the most visible females behind the male-dominated world of NFL football and the secrets from the sidelines 30 years later. It will introduce you to an array of Bears Super Fans. Most importantly, it includes the self-written stories of the lives of the eclectic and amazing women who were the Honey Bears. The Honey Bears were disbanded by the Chicago Bears management immediately following the Bears victory in Super Bowl XX, in 1986, and they have not won a Super Bowl since. Was this the origination of the “Honey Bear Curse"? Why were they disbanded? Was it the Playboy scandal? Was it fraternization between players and cheerleaders? Were the Honey Bears a distraction to the players on the field? Or was it really just a "business decision"? Read the book and you be the judge! Over the years, many attempts have been made to resurrect the Honey Bears. Newspapers, websites and petitions have evolved requesting to “Bring Back The Chicago Honey Bears,” ever since their last performance which was over three decades ago. Radio and television shows have continuously invited former Chicago Honey Bears to reminiscence about their days on the field. So why write a book about the Chicago Honey Bears? Because after all of these years there are still unanswered questions and mysteries... “What happened to the beloved Honey Bears and where are they now?” They may be, “MISSING FROM THE SIDELINES,” but their personal stories unfold in this book, as never told before. As two former Honey Bears, we felt it was time to share our perspective from the sidelines along with our experiences, disappointments and inspirational perseverance.
