Rizzo is washed. I give him credit. Went to the perfect park for his swing, Yankee stadium.

So right now, against RHP:

Hoerner, Suzuki, Happ, Swanson, Wisdom (3B), Mervis, Hosmer, Catcher, Bellinger

Against LHP:

Morel (3B), Suzuki, Happ, Swanson, Hoerner, Wisdom (1B), Mastrobouni/Bellinger (CF), Catcher, Madrigal/Bellinger (DH)

This is why I wanted Mancini instead of Hosmer, they have no power at all against LH starters. And they can't put two strikeout leaders in Morel and Wisdom next to each other in the order.

Watch the Cubs pick up bum cast-off Mike Moustakas (released by the Reds owed 22 mil) to play 3B.

For the MLB minimum, it's not an awful move if he will accept a NRI with an early opt out. Is he really going to be worse at 3B than McKinstry?

From some of the lineup projections I have seen they keep putting Morel at 3B. Not sure if that is just speculation or what

3B is the position Morel originally came up through the low minors af.

The problem with Moustakas is that he hits left handed, as do Hosmer, Bellinger, and Mervis. That is a lot of platooning needed.

"A big opportunity this spring" means we will see Mervis on May 1. Enough time to challenge for ROY and get the full year of service time, but also enough time to get his 7th season of control if he doesn't finish in the top 2 for ROY.

The Iowa Cubs might be a better watch this year than the MLB Cubs bunch of bums.

Bizarre & humorous Cubs talk on Marquee's pre Cubs con "The Reporters". The panel talked about Chicago sports tanks but didn't include the 2nd Cubs tank. It's pretty obvious that's mandated by Marquee.

Jesse Rogers
Can they compete with the Cardinals? You can make the case ...yes...with pitching and defense.

Sahadev Sharma,
Yes they can compete. You can look at this team with 85 to 90 wins.

Meghan Montemurro
If they hit to their potential and what they have built a foundation on. Then...yes...they (74 W '22 ) have an opportunity to challenge the Cardinals (93) and Brewers (86).

Tom Ricketts asked softball questions from Kap & Hood today. Kap always backs down from previous issues he has when he interviews Cubs brass. Hood got blustery about Sammy but sheepish about pertinent Cubs topics.

No one is saying WS. But it does help address a major issue of no power.

Morel is playing 3rd.

I guess we will never get to see Mervis. They have him pencilled in at Iowa again. They could always cut Hosmer at anytime as he is on a mlb minimum contract if it comes to that.

Mervis will be there. Maybe not Opening Day, but by mid-May.

Cubs are likely to have league average hitting or better at every position but catcher, at least until Happ gets traded in July.

This probably means the end of the road for Madrigal, as there won't even be DH appearances available for him.

The Score/Marquee shills are talking 90 wins competing with the Cardinals. 16 (22%) more wins would be a lot to ask with not one star player. Some of the one year & out guys would need to have career years & and not be flipped. The team would have to cut back on its near MLB leading IL days like in '22. If the past is an indicator It's almost a certainly unfortunately Bellinger, Hoerner, Suzuki, Stroman and much of the pitching staff will have a huge number of IL days. Near .500 is more realistic.

Wisdom seems like the odd guy out or will be a bench guy that can DH.
