Good riddance to Vaughn. They gave him his chances.

We should give all our good players to the Brewers to derail the Cubs dream season.

When you get some good ones maybe you can make this happen.

Not every team can do an 8 year rebuild to get them.

True. 20 yr rebuilds are preferrable.

The clock resets the moment you win a playoff game.

Whatever Vaughn was going to do here, he has already done it.

Best of luck to him.

Whispers about his work ethic. Seemed strange because the guy did everything the org asked early on playing out of position

He was yet another high draft pick who looked nothing like the scouting reports.

Right on the mark. Liked the draft pick, great college hitter with the metal bat. Then you see him. The neverending groundballs to the SS and the warning track power. Just too easy to pitch to. This isn't a Tim Anderson head scratcher. Milwaukee got themselves a nothingburger. Have I mentioned the beady eyes?

Sounds like another veteran type who they hope to trade by the deadline, but can give them some "help" prior.

Seems unlikely to turn his career around, but let's see if another environment gets Vaughn going. At least he's back in the majors again and will get some playing time.

He can't read a pitch and he doesn't walk. He's a pitcher's wet dream.

Civale is making more than Vaughn this year. I thought there's no way Jerry goes for this? But, of course...The Brewers also sent cash to the White Sox to help offset the difference in salaries between Civale, who is earning $8 million this season, and Vaughn, who is earning $5.85.

So Vaughn gets booed when he comes back? Or would indifference be the better reaction? Suppose he never comes back is a viable possibility too

I would think indifferent, maybe even light recognition, but I think everyone is (or should be) happy that this relationship is over. He was a bust, but he wasn't involved in anything that made him unlikable (outside of his play).

Earlier in the week, I read that Civale wanted to be traded because they were going to move him to the bullpen and I thought it was a kind of a dick move. So, I guess they showed him.

But, come on Brewers, you couldn't do better than Andrew Vaughn? How bad are things in Milwaukee that this guy is going to do absolutely anything for you?

It's The Rate. He'll either be shot or someone will take off their shirt, run onto the field, and attack him. From where I stand, either response would be warranted.

It's basically cash. Civale is making $8M and the Brewers are sending $500k along. So they traded Civale for $1M.

If the Brewers fall out of the playoff race by late July, they will probably trade Hoskins, maybe to the Red Sox. Vaughn can stand at 1B for a few weeks in that scenario, if they don't DFA him before that.

If Civale can get some good starts, Sox could flip him. Cubs might need a starter.
