We had our first ever hole in one on the golf trip. Rookie with 20 handicap 5 holes into his Kringle Cup career gets an ace at Thunderhawk. In true golf trip fashion, the next day he got so hammered at Whistling Straits that we had to leave him in the car passed out during dinner and when we eventually pulled him out of my car hours later he had predictably pissed himself. Had to get him to his room via a luggage cart.

If I'm going to get blackout drunk on a golf course, it's not going to be on one I paid $500 to play... (I don't really drink much when golfing, but point still stands)

$500? What is this, 2014? It's about $1000 now with caddie and tip.

Yep, he definitely achieved legend status in the first two days of the trip. The night before he got completely wasted in Milwaukee and decided ot take a scooter back to the hotel. Crashed it into a light pole.

I knew $500 was low, but didn't realize it was that low...

yea the place is a total rip off. two of us skipped it and played the Bull for $180. After the round, to a man the rest of the guys came up to us and said they wished they played the Bull instead or at least that they were glad they got to play Straits but definitely not worth the price tag and would never go back.

Managed to cut my left pointer finger pretty good last night. Probably should get a few stitches but don't want to go to the hospital so just going to monitor it for a few days. Grabbed a club this morning and the good news is I think I can still golf. The bad news is I will likely need to switch to an interlocking grip which I have not done since I was a little kid. I have used the overlap for the past 35 years. Maybe it will end up being a good thing who knows.

Scheffler has bounced back nicely from cutting his hand. Maybe your pro career is just getting started???

Yesterday I made a last minute tee time for late this morning. Looks like it might be a little rainy, but better than the office.

big annual golf trip (The Kringle Cup) begins Thursday. At the last minute my partner had to bail for the 3rd year in a row which sucks. Silver lining is I'm now partnered up with my best friend from college. We started this tradition and haven't been partners in over 10 years.

I've played a grand total of 1 round since last August. Should make for an interesting trip. I don't expect it to make much difference. As long as my back holds up there doesn't seem to be much variance in my old man golf game. If I'm on top of my game (doubtful) I'll shoot around 81-82. If I'm off my game but standing upright I'll shoot mid to upper 80s. Might dip into the low 90s if I start struggling. If back gives out I'll be north of 100 and good chance I can't finish the trip.

Thursday: Thunderhawk
Friday: Whistling Straits (or a couple of us are playing the Bull up the street)
Saturday: Lawsonia Woodlands (2 man scramble), Lawsonia Links
Sunday: Washington County

Bringing enough weed to take down Secretariat.

Our place is about 30 minutes from Lawsonia. Used to play it pretty much every year. Anybody in the woods may have tripped over one of my MIA balls.

I'd be happy with playing my usual game if possible. I slipped and fell back in 2016 and cracked a bone in my thumb and played the rest of the year while it slowly healed. I looked back at my records and shot some of my best golf the rest of that summer. I just don't want the wound to continually open and bleed so that will be the biggest challenge. My buddy at work told me to super glue it. I'll just see how tomorrow goes. Again with the interlock grip that finger shouldn't have too much pressure on it but will likely take some trial and error. It could open something up for me.
