Agreed. How many stooges do you think Crane Kenney has hired to call Comcast and demand Marquee?

Sports networks rarely qualify for this. They are a completely different situation from "paying" for networks HGTV and Animal Planet.

ESPN is one of the most expensive channels and is on every basic cable package and above. It was $7.86 as of 2017, and probably higher now.

Hard for posters on a sports board to fathom, but there are a huge number of homes that never tune into ESPN.

A major market like Chicago should not gripe about having two RSN's.

NBC Sportsnet could barely program relevant non-game content when they had all 4 teams! Marquee is going to be a dumpster fire when there aren't Cubs games. This year and beyond it's going to be a dumpster fire when the Cubs games are on too!

If there are offerings other than all Cubs, all the time, I wouldn't complain. As of now, there are no indicators of other offerings, so, fuck them.

So, if you have a smart TV, youtubeTV seems like a winner. 70 channels for $50. I would think if Marquee gets on, it puts comcast into a corner.

MLBTV blacks out for local games, but I do not think that RFDC would qualify as local.

He meant Youtube TV / Hulu TV Cubs games would be blacked out, if he even gets Marquee at all.

Chicago didn't need a second RSN. Boston has had two for a long time because the Bruins helped found NESN and the Celtics had to find another place to go, Bruins-Celtics relations historically being rather strained. But beyond them, the SportsChannel/FSN/CSN/NBC New England lineup is desolate.

New York has three and doesn't need the third, the Mets channel has no winter programming that matters, YES has the Nets and everyone else is on MSG, which has no summer programming.

RSNs in other markets get a message that the game is blacked out in your area. You get the other programming though.

Yes. He has to buy mlb.tv to watch Cubs games.

So because I am in the Cardinal tv network area I cannot get the Cubs tv deal? Isn't pretty much everyone in some networks broadcasat area?

I'm still finding this very frustrating.
Hulu Live TV is $54.99 / month. The sports leagues have got to separate themselves from the Carriers.

I'd be more than happy to pay $120 a year for my season's worth of baseball on TV.

You can get the network. The games are blacked out. It's just like how At&t has the YES network but no Yankees games.

So what is the reason why Hulu or youtube would even get the network to begin with?

For fans in Chicago and the local viewing territory.

Funny how over 60% of the posts in this thread are subdivision members. Clearly access to Cubs media is HEAVILY on the mind of MANY Sox fans. Further proving my theory that indeed, there is no known cure for Cubbie on the Brain!
