Honestly, though, you hope a guy sticks around a place like that for a while. But in the end, he isn't better than we thought he might be. Seems like a good enough guy, but he's nothing special.

Colorado is a disaster, too. They may not even have a conference.

He was a preacher for a little while there as well, which might give this some context

Hasn't Deion always been about Deion? I mean, that brings him into the same company as more than 83% of his coaching brethren but I guess I'm saying this doesn't surprise me. The bigger surprise is that he went into the coaching game to begin with but whatever.

Yes. As dolphinstein said above, he was a preacher for a while, and he did the nice guy act for a bit, but he's nothing special. I had hoped he was.

He was making $300k a year and now he gets $30M over 5 years plus incentives.

Ok, but that doesn’t really address my point. I’m sure Malcolm x could have gotten a corporate job

I hear you. Those 2 men aren't cut from the same cloth though. I don't think Deion said he was carrying a carrying the cross for HBCUs. Even if he did, I saw nothing from his history that would make me believe him.

I'm not familiar with it.

Eddie Robinson Jr, hc at Alabama State got into a pissing match with Deion back in October when they played. He kept questioning Deion’s knowledge and understanding of all/anything SWAC. He basically was calling him a carpet bagging fraud.

He was right. That being said, it seems like a lot of SWAC folks were jealous of the attention Deion got.

Yeah, but given that Deion was telling everyone in sight how the right things should be done didn’t help

but he made them all a decent amount of money. I think the conference was thrilled he was there.

Anyway, I hope some other big personality with some actual social consciousness takes up the cause.

Do the Sox still have his baseball rights? Maybe they can give him another look before he gets started.

Given that he only has one good leg, it would be so Sox.

Lot of big name guys that were highly recruited are hitting the transfer portal, Deion will get some top tier guys to Colorado.

I have always loved the bowl games. Their integrity is coming into serious question with players opting out, transfer portal players leaving and coach movement. They are becoming development games.

And yes, I also know that college sports has long been something of an illusion. It's funny how every time I bemoan the loss of tradition, everyone turns into a vulgar Marxist, telling me about how the base and superstructure were always there, and so on.

I used to love it as well but 75% now are worthless. The Florida QB has already said that he doesn't care about the $500 stipend and swag bag.

I'm happy with it. He did his job here and now he can go be happy at the place he really wants to be. There are things I loved about Brohm and things that made me quite concerned for the future. It was cool to make the title game though.

Just don't hire Kevin Sumlin and we'll be good.

Leonard would be a great get but it would turn the Purdue character of all offense, no defense on its ear.

Did you see that asshole telling people to transfer out?

Was there something about Deion's coaching that wowed everyone?

It seemed to me he got good talent based on a cause in a conference that couldn't compete. He won't have that advantage any more. I think he will crash and burn (depending on where Colorado ends up conference wise)

1. I only saw part of it. At least he seemed to be honest with the kids. Rude and blunt, but honest.

2. He must be a prep, not necessarily a game coach.

3. As soon as the Pac 12 gets gutted, he'll jump again, if only for his recruiting ability.

It’s definitely not about the games anymore. I just like having it on, while having holiday time off. It is sad that it has become so meaningless though.

And I miss having it all wrapped up before having to go back to the January work grind.
